Asian Tour Recap: Supupramai Claims the Bharath Classic
Poosit Supupramai claims his maiden Asian Tour victory at the Bharath Classic 2025, securing his card for next season. Preview the Saudi Open finale and Order of Merit battles.
When the Asian Tour season concludes, the top 65 players from the Order of Merit will earn a card for next year. For that reason, Poosit Supupramai had one thing on his mind this week at the Bharath Classic, improving his ranking. He entered the week, the penultimate event of the season, in 81st place on the Order of Merit. No question, he had some work to do.
Opening rounds of 66-69 had him right in the mix heading into the weekend with a great opportunity to lock up his card. His strong play would continue and he’d enter the final round tied for the lead with Jazz Janewattananond. While Jazz wouldn’t challenge him all that much, a charge from Wooyoung Cho, who started the day five shots back of the lead, would put some real pressure on Supupramai.
A +1 37 on the front meant that Supupramai would need to make a charge on the back to get his maiden win on the Asian Tour. Fortunately, he’d do just that. With birdies on 12, 13, 14 and then a massive birdie on 18, he’d win by one shot over Cho.
He moves to 29th in the Asian Tour Order of Merit and guarantees himself a full-time spot on the tour next season.
“I was struggling on the front nine, I was not playing well. It was all about mindset - that got me through”
Ahead of the final stretch on the Asian Tour, Poosit made an equipment change, altering the loft and lie of his putter, resulting in drastic improvement and ultimately leading to this win.
“I came here to try and improve my ranking on the Merit list. It was on my mind, not winning. But to secure my card this week with the win, it’s beyond my dreams”
Previewing the Saudi Open
Next week is the final event of the 2025 Asian Tour season. The Saudi Open will be hosted at Dirab Golf & Country Club.
The main focus this week is the Order of Merit as players either look to climb into the top 65, or maintain their spot in the top 65 to secure their card for next season.
Notable names looking to secure their spot include: Santiago De la Fuente (58th), Sean Ramos (65th), Guntaek Koh (73rd), and James Piot (77th).
Josele Ballester wins the 2025 PIF Saudi International at -22, while Scott Vincent and Yosuke Asaji secure LIV Golf exemptions through the International Series Order of Merit.
Ekpharit Wu wins his first Asian Tour event at the Taifong Open, earning a spot in the PIF Saudi International where two LIV Golf promotions will be decided.
Japan's Yosuke Asaji wins in a playoff at the Singapore Open, jumping to second in the International Series Rankings and putting himself in position for LIV Golf promotion.
